Windows Mobile 5.0

Postby ocean_sailor » Wed 16 Nov 2005 - 22:39

Tried to install WinGps Light on a new MD96700 with the new Mobile 5.0.
Also used the new active sync. The installation was aborted. Has anybody any idea how to get WinGps to work with the new Microsoft O/s.

Hi Ocean_sailor,

We've not yet tested WinGPS 4 Mobile with the new Windows Mobile 5, so we do not yet know if it's compatible. What I have heard however is that there seem to be a lot of problems to get the new ActiveSync working with Windows Mobile 5. Microsoft has even setup a specific troubleshooting page for this: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/help/activesync/default.mspx

Hello Stentec,

Active Sync is working well in my anvironnement with Windows XP, Qtec9000 (WM5) en Active Sync 4.1. But when running the install I also have a abortion when the setup tries to connect to the mobile device.

So I am shure is has something to do with your installer.

regards,

Windows Mobile 5.0 with ActiveSync 4.1 and WinGPS4013Mobile

Postby mseverijnen » Mon 28 Nov 2005 - 12:53

Hello All,

Same problem here, QTEK (HTC) 9100 with WM5 and latest ActivSync 4.1
does not work with installing Stentec WinGPS 4013 Mobile Lite.

An error message comes that says "The ActivSync connection with PDA has lost" (Wrong English by the way)

Dear people at Stentec please look into this problem and let me know
when you fixed this probem?

regards,

Windows Mobile 5.0 with ActiveSync 4.1 and WinGPS4013Mobile

Postby Roelof » Wed 04 Jan 2006 - 00:37

Hello Stentec,

Happy new year to all

I am wandering wether you have been able yet to investigate/solve the active sync issue with WM5?

Any reply is welcome. We still have some time to go for spring but I would like to know if I will be able to use WinGPS Mobile on WM5 than.

Regards,

Roelof

Hello,

I have Windows Mobile 5 and I would like to buy wingps mobile. But it still isn't working. Do you know when Wingps 4 mobile is supported for Windows Mobile 5??

Greetings,

Here is a workaround to get WinGPS running on a mobile 5 device:
- Run setup file
- Follow installation wizard until the error message appears that says that Activesync can't connect to your pda.
- DON'T click on the error message, just leave it there.
- Have windows search your harddisk for the file: WinGPS4LMobileInstall.ARMV4.CAB
- Copy this file to your windows mobile device and run it from there.
- WinGPS L Mobile installs
- now you can close the setup still running on your desktop pc

After installing you can start WinGPS on your mobile device,
i was not yet able to see if everything else works on WM5

Hi bpv,

This is indeed a workaround, but you do not need to run the setup. The setup is actually a sort of zip-file, so you can run the setup using WinZip and unzip the WinGPS cab file and copy it.

But still the problem remains how to get the charts to the PDA.

We are working on a solution for this.

Hey there Stentec-guys,
People are waiting for your solution.

I just bought WinGPS 4.1 mobile, after I checked compatibility on you site: 'Windows Mobile 2003 (CE4.2 of hoger) of 5.0'.

Rather dissapointing to find out that it doesnot work and that it is a known issue for quit a while now. I started checking this forum AFTER buying :?

Till now we have only seen one forum-member using his brains, now it's your turn.

break a leg!

I tried to load the charts via another PDA with PocketPC 2003 on my SD-Card. When using the Card in another PDA it appears Chart not activated  . I´m getting angry about this. Please solve the Problem now. It´s not a new problem.

If all goes well there should be new versions of WinGPS 4 Mobile and DKW Manager available by the end of this week, or the beginning of next week...
