General questions and suggestions about Motorboat Simulator

Lights are possible on lighthouses, windows, boats, etc.

Altug mentioned on the sailsim forum about altering the emissive setting from 0 to 1 to make that object light up at night.
I tried it with my lighthouse and the lamp room lights up fine at night. Also tried it with the steamer windows.

Open the S3D file or buoy file with wordpad and the settings are near the end. With these models I had seperate semi transparent windows not joined to the main model so this is the section to alter, not the main model.
Apparently should work with house windows, portholes, etc.
I am using 1.2 motorboat retail but I think works with sailsim and earlier m/b but not sure.
Will experiment further.
As always no liability accepted. Try at your own risk.
Works for me on my computer so far and simulator or computer not crashed.

So regarding Blender the steamer lights up at night, and the lighthouse I made has the lamp-room lit and all it needed was altering 0 to 1 in a text file.

But still not solved see-through windows in Blender when looking in, the other side of ship becomes invisible. I fixed it with the lighthouse lamp but doesn't seem to work with the steamer windows. I think it was z invert I tried. At least the windows and lightouse light up OK at night now at least on my computer. Could try a lit cone for the lighthouse as Altug used, but needs the animation to work to revolve it.

Now how do we get animations to work in the simulators.

Easy now to place a chain of lit lighthouses across miles of ocean and Islands for night navigation.

Maybe try and light some windows and portholes in the barges next

So next tried a half mile or so cone from my lighthouse and it lights the night sky up similar to a lighthouse beam....but...it also shows up in the daytime. If made invisble doesn't show and if opaque visible during day.
I suppose it could be a compromise using part invisible as I did with the windows on boats and the sky would show through and be weakly visible during daytime.
As far as I know that is how the lighthouse beams are made and also rotate with animation which we don't have yet.

So will leave it to others to see if any feedback and discussion which seems very sparse on this forum and my thanks to Altug for posting all the information.

That's probably a good solution for getting night lights. However, a bit complicated for a non-informatique specialist (like me)... I hope we'll see soon this option in a future version à MS. :?

I will wait to see if there are more things that can be done with Sailsim5 which is the next one due out eventually as far as I know, and perhaps continue with them then, but for now they are not really for me.

Need to be able to sail one's own made boats, with several boats in a scene off-line, and make longer true to life routes easily, inluding docks, ports and harbours plus coastal buildings.
