Hello Rob,

Thanks for your compliment. We've worked hard this last view weeks to improve things for the pre-release. Racing against AI will not be available in this pre-release. For this pre-release, no demo will be available.
The next version, which will probably release around March 2009, will include a full scenery and other improvements (yet to be made). The full version is expected later next year. This will include even more improvements and functionality. We will keep you updated.

why do the gauges look soooooooo fake on sail sim 5. the gauges on the last sail sim look heaps better. take for example the chart, that just looks like you have done a cheap arse job at it. i hope you change the gauges cause they really do suck.

Hello,

With gauges I presume you use the intruments? The chart viewer as it is right now only is a static version for showing the matchcourses. It will have the same functionality as in SS4.2, as a chartviewer should be like.

I see the link to the .MOV file is not working right now. The office will be fully occupied next monday again, so we will fix this problem then. Thanks for noticing.

Hello Rob,

The functionality of the instruments in SS5 is almost exactly the same as in SS4.2. We only changed the layout. The only two instruments which are not fully finished are the chartviewer and the meteo. Also the compass has been upgraded with an option to calculate the magnetic deviation automatically depending on the position on earth.

hey jeroen,
will we be able to damage the boats? like if we run into things? that would be cool. and will there eventually be AI boats (to race against if able to)? what detailed sceneries will be inluded in the full version? any chance of sydney being included?
will there be any campaign like things as well?

cheers

Hello Rob,

We don't support any type of damage yet. AI boats is certainly an important thing on our wish-list. Exact details on the sceneries will be available later this week.

The video can be found at http://www.stentec.com/video/Teaser_SailSimulator5_small.mov
You can also use the rightmouse button and save as. The video is then being downloaded to your pc.

I've also changed the link on http://www.sailsimulator.com/content/products/ss5/ss5-screenshots.html
